Days of Noah Bible Study

Only God knows the exact time of the return of Christ but He does expect us to know the seasons. Christ told us that it will be like it was in the days of Noah and the days of Lot. In this Bible study we will be looking at the days of Noah. It is important to know what was going on in the days of Noah as it is one of the signs of our Saviours return. We all know the story about Noah's ark and the flood but why did God send the flood? The answer to that will tell us what it will be like when Christ returns. Let's start by reading what Christ had to say about the days of Noah.

Matthew 24:37-41

V37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Noe is of Hebrew origin and means Noah.

V38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

Few believed Noah when he was building the ark. They didn't care and just went about their daily routine. Was Noah chosen by God? Yes. Was he a prophet? Yes. He told them that God was going to send a flood, few believed him or even cared.

V39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

They knew not because they didn't care about the truth of God's word, they had no faith. You can imagine what these people must of thought and all the ridicule that Noah had to endure. There is another flood coming soon but this time it is not a flood of water, it is a flood of lies.

V40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
V41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

I have heard people say that these two verses are more proof of the rapture of the church. Wrong. The people that are taken away, are taken by the flood of lies that Satan will be using in the last days. You don't want to be one of the people taken. If you are, your going to be worshiping the antichrist. Satan will send a flood of lies after God's people when he returns to earth. The biggest lie will be that he is Jesus Christ. Two other lies that he is using now is the so called rapture and what the mark of the beast really is. Let's go to Revelation.

Revelation 12:15
V15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

What comes out of our mouth? Words. Water is used figuratively for the things that Satan will be saying when he returns. The woman is all twelve tribes of Israel, not just Judah. The flood is the lies that Satan will be using to lead God's children astray. This will be the flood of the last days.

Now let's go to Genesis and read about Noah's flood. Christ told us it will be like it was in the days of Noah, so let's see why God sent the flood in the first place.

Genesis 6:1-8

V1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
V2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

The word 'men' in verse one refers to Adam and 'them' refers to Adam and Eve. The sons of God are angels that were with God in heaven. They left heaven and came to earth.

Jude 1:6
V6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, He hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

These fallen angels took daughters of the seed line of Adam for wives. This was an attempt by Satan to pollute the seed line that Christ would be born from. The great day is the Lord's day.

V3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

The word spirit is ruach and it is used here to mean the psychological part of Adam as well as all mankind. That spirit will not always remain is us to act as a judge, for it returns to God at our death. Adam in the flesh had corrupted his way and God is saying that he will die in 120 years.

V4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

The primitive root for the word giants in Hebrew is naphal and means to fall. These nephilim or fallen ones are the offspring of the fallen angels and the daughters of Adam and Eve. This started happening before Noah's time and went right up to the flood. The phrase 'and also after that' tells us that Satan tried this again at a later time after the flood. The second time they were smaller in number and covered a smaller area. Mighty is the Hebrew word gibbor (ghib-bore') and means powerful; by implication, warrior, tyrant. I believe that some of these went on to be the heroes of Greek mythology. The fallen angels knew things that no one else on earth did. They were being lead by Satan and he is very wise but misleading.

V5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

The word man is now used of the descendants of Adam. With these nephilim walking around that are the offspring of Satan's buddies and the daughters of Adam and Eve, a lot of sinning was going on. These people were pure evil and God had to put a stop to it because it was interfering with His plan. Christ was to be born of the seed line of Adam and God could not have the nephilim part of that seed line.

V6 And it repented the LORD that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at his heart.

Things are not going well here. There was already the problem in the garden of Eden and now this. God was sorry and it angered Him that He put man on the earth in the flesh. All man was doing was evil and God does not like that.

V7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

God had to stop the nephilim and He did that with the flood. There is another flood going to happen soon but this one is not from God and it is not a flood of water. It's a flood of lies from Satan.

V8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
V9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

Noah did not find grace with God because he was not sinning but for that fact that he and his family did not mix with the nephilim. That way the seed line of Adam would stay pure and Christ could be born from it. The first 'generations' in verse nine is the Hebrew word yalad and means to bear young. Noah and his family was the only one without blemish as to their pedigree.

I can't document this from the Bible but I feel that Noah's flood was not world wide. The reason being is why God sent the flood in the first place. He had to put to an end the mix of the fallen angels with the daughters of Adam and Eve. It was only those women that Satan was after and I don't feel that they were spread all over the earth at that time. I have been asked if the Kenites lived through the flood, they did and this is one way they could have. Now Christ told us that it would be like it was in the days of Noah. Will we soon see giants walking the earth again? No, because there will not be enough time for them to be born. In Mark 13:20 the Lord shortened the length of the tribulation. It was to be seven years but in Revelation 9:5 it tells us now it is five months, maybe even less, see Revelation 2:8-11 Praise the Lord for that! But their will be fallen angels again on the earth when Christ returns. They are friends of Satan so you know they will be doing only things that go against God's word. Anything to worry about? Not really. Christ gave us power over Satan and his friends in Luke 10:17-20
