Gay Rights Homosexuality and the Bible

With all the talk about gay rights these days, I think we should read what God has to say on the subject. Does God support gay rights? Are gay people born gay? Does God approve of homosexuality? The answer to all those questions is no. God does not believe in gay rights. Gay people are not born gay, it is a life style they chose. God does not approve of homosexuality.

Now I know that some people will be offended by this Bible study and want to send me an e-mail telling me so. They will ask me such questions like "Who are you to judge me?" and "What about love your neighbour as yourself?" Well, you can save yourself some time because here are the answers to those questions. First off, I'm not judging you, God is. I'm quoting verses from the King James Bible on homosexuality and it is God that said homosexuality is a sin. As for loving my neighbour, this is a Bible study done with Christian love for others. As we will see later in the Bible study, gay people do not get to go to heaven unless they repent of the sin of homosexuality and change there ways. The unrighteous do not inherit the kingdom of God (I Corinthians 6:9-10).

Lets start our Bible study on gay rights homosexuality and the Bible in Genesis with the creation of mankind on the sixth day.

Genesis 1:26-31

V26 And God said, Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
V27 So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.

God created all the people of the earth in His image. Notice that God created both male and female. There is a reason God created male and female, He has a plan as we will see in the next verse.

V28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Fruitful 6509 parah (paw-raw'); a primitive root; to bear fruit (literally or figuratively).

Multiply 7235 rabah (raw-baw'); a primitive root; to increase (in whatever respect).

Here we have God's first command to mankind and that is to be fruitful and multiply. God is not talking about growing crops of corn or wheat but of having children. God created us male and female to have children. If a person is in a gay relationship, they can not have children the way God intended them to.

V29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
V30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
V31 And God saw every thing that He had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Note in verse 31 that God saw everything that He made and it was very good. I bring this to your attention because of the lies that are spread today, that gay people are born gay. I do not care what any so called doctor may say, not one single person was ever born gay. How can I be so sure? Because God has Paul tell us in the book of Romans that homosexuality is against nature, meaning it is an unnatural act. God is a God of love and fairness. When we get to God's law on homosexuality, you will see that God said homosexual people should be put to death. Now stop and think for a minute. In verse 31 God said that everything He made was very good. Later on in the Bible, God said the punishment for the sin of homosexuality is death. If people are born gay like some so called "experts" say, God would not have said the punishment for homosexuality is death. That would not be fair to that person. What people need to know is that Satan is god of this world and that many of the so called "experts" are just tools of Satan used to spread lies about God's Word. We should always check out what some one may say in God's Word. If what they say does not line up with what God said, it is a lie from Satan.

Now lets take a look at God's law on homosexuality.

Leviticus 18:22

V22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Lie 7901 shakab (shaw-kab'); a primitive root; to lie down (for rest, sexual connection, decease or any other purpose).

Abomination 8441 tow` ebah (to-ay-baw'); or to` ebah (to-ay-baw'); feminine active participle of 8581; properly, something disgusting (morally), i.e. (as noun) an abhorrence; especially idolatry or (concretely) an idol.
8581 ta` ab (taw-ab'); a primitive root; to loathe, i.e. (morally) detest.

Men having sexual connections with other men is morally disgusting in God's eyes. As we will see in the New Testament, so is women with women. Do not believe anyone that would tell you that God thinks homosexuality is ok with Him because it is not. If you are a gay person reading this and you want to go to heaven, you are going to have to change your ways. You were not born gay and God does not approve of homosexuality. You must confess your sin to God, ask for forgiveness and change your ways. Ask Him to help you to over come the sin of homosexuality.

Leviticus 20:13

V13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

The word lie in this verse means the same thing as it does in Leviticus 18:22 Once again God is telling us that He does not approve of homosexuality and that it is a sin. You probably noticed in this verse that God's judgment for gay people is that they are put to death. If a true man or woman of God was in charge of this country (USA) you can bet that this law would be followed today. For the lawmakers and other people that support gay rights, they probably think this verse is a hate crime. Well I have some news for them. By calling God's Holy Word a hate crime they are walking on very thin ice. Someday they will see God face to face and chances are they are not going to be very happy on that day. God is going to want to know why they called His Word a hate crime. What are they going to say to Him on that day? "Sorry God, but I know how to treat your children that you created better than you do." If you are a Christian and you think this verse is a hate crime, you better wise up fast. If you think you know more than God, you have become a fool.

Does the New Testament have anything to say on gay people and homosexuality? You bet. Lets go to the book of Romans.

Romans 1:22-27

V22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

Any time some one thinks they know more than God, they become a fool. How can the creature know more than it's Creator? It can't. Job thought he was wise. Read Job chapters 38 to 42 and see what God had to say to him.

V23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

These fools will worship anything except the immortal God. God gave us His Word, the Bible to guide us in our daily life. Sad to say but many of His children have never bothered to read His letter to us. We should love God more than anything else in this world.

V24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

These people did not follow God's laws and turned there back on Him. If you reject God, He will reject you.

V25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, Who is blessed for ever. Amen.

People that say being gay is ok with God and that He does not think homosexuality is a sin, have changed the truth of God's Word into a lie. We just read in Leviticus that God does not approve of homosexuality. Some people will say that is the Old Testament so that does not matter any more. Wrong. Jesus Christ often quoted the Old Testament. Some people must think that God forgot to tell Christ that all the Old Testament laws are destroyed. If you are one of these people that think the Old Testament is done away with, read what Jesus Christ said about that in Matthew 5:17-20 As we shall see, homosexuality is a sin in God's eyes in both the Old and New Testaments.

V26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

Vile 819 atimia (at-ee-mee'-ah); from 820; infamy, i.e. (subjectively) comparative indignity, (objectively) disgrace.

Affections 3806 pathos (path'-os); from the alternate of 3958; properly, suffering ("pathos"), i.e. (subjectively) a passion (especially concupiscence).

Natural 5446 phusikos (foo-see-kos'); from 5449; "physical", i.e. (by implication) instinctive.

Well here it is right from God's Word. Homosexuality is against nature for mankind. If gay people are born gay, why would God tell us it is against nature? God said being homosexual is against nature because not one single person ever was or ever will be born homosexual. It is a life style that person has chosen and it is a sin! Women having sexual relations with other women is just as much a sin as men with men.

V27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Lust 3715 orexis (or'-ex-is); from 3713; excitement of the mind, i.e. longing after.

Unseemly 808 aschemosune (as-kay-mos-oo'-nay); from 809; an indecency; by implication, the pudenda.

Recompence 489 antimisthia (an-tee-mis-thee'-ah); from a compound of 473 and 3408; requital, correspondence.
473 anti (an-tee'); a primary particle; opposite, i.e. instead or because of (rarely in addition to).
3408 misthos (mis-thos'); apparently a primary word; pay for services (literally or figuratively), good or bad.

We are told right here in the New Testament that homosexuality is an indecency. It is unnatural. Being gay is wrong and a sin. Never believe what some one tells you about God's Word. Always check out what they say in the Bible for yourself. Don't believe the lies you hear on the news or in some of the false teaching churches that homosexual people are born that way and that we should all support homosexuality. If you are a true Christian, you will be against homosexuality because God our Father is against homosexuality. It is a sin and a sin people could stop committing if they wanted to. You know, standing up for the truth of God's Word will not make you very popular with mankind. Should a Christian really care about that? No! A true Christian wants to make God our Father happy and if that upsets other people, that is their problem. Jesus Christ did not care if He upset people. He did what God told Him to do and that should be the desire of every Christian. That is how we make God happy.

Lets take a look at a couple of other places in the New Testament that speak out against homosexuality.

1 Timothy 1:8-10

V8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
V9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
V10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

Defile themselves with mankind 733 arsenokoites (ar-sen-ok-oy'-tace); from 730 and 2845; a sodomite.
730 arrhen (ar'-hrane); or arsen (ar'-sane); probably from 142; male (as stronger for lifting).
2845 koite (koy'-tay); from 2749; a couch; by extension cohabitation; by implication, the male sperm.

A sodomite is one who practices sodomy. Sodomy is an unnatural sexual act that many homosexual men do. Again, for the people that think all the Old Testament laws are no longer valid, Paul tells us that God's law is good when used the right way.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

V9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
V10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Abusers of themselves with mankind Has the same definition as "defile themselves with mankind" from I Timothy 1:10

As Christians, we need to stand up for the truth of God's Word and speak out against homosexuality. If your not gay but you know a gay person, kindly tell them the Bible said what they are doing is a sin and they need to repent and change their ways. That Jesus Christ will forgive them if they do and that He will help them to stop committing that sin. You can read II Thessalonians 3:14-15 to find out how a Christian is to handle a situation of some one not following the teachings of Jesus Christ. If you are a homosexual person reading this and you would like to go to heaven, repent to God for your sin of homosexuality and ask the Lord to help you change your ways. Do not believe anyone that tells you the lie that you were born homosexual. The Bible states you were not. Also, do not believe the lie that God will accept you just the way you are. Read these two verses again. It tells us not to be deceived for people that commit these sins shall not inherit the kingdom of God. They need to repent and change their ways. Jesus Christ died for the sins of the world and homosexuality is a sin that He will forgive you for if you repent and change your ways.

V11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Washed 628 apolouo (ap-ol-oo'-o); from 575 and 3068; to wash fully, i.e. (figuratively) have remitted (reflexively).

Sanctified 37 hagiazo (hag-ee-ad'-zo); from 40; to make holy, i.e. (ceremonially) purify or consecrate; (mentally) to venerate.

Justified 1344 dikaioo (dik-ah-yo'-o); from 1342; to render (i.e. show or regard as) just or innocent.
1342 dikaios (dik'-ah-yos); from 1349; equitable (in character or act); by implication, innocent, holy (absolutely or relatively).

By the blood of Jesus Christ all our sins can be washed away and we can have a fresh new start. Some people teach that gay people will automatically go to hell. That is a lie. There is only one unforgivable sin and not one of the sins we read in verses nine and ten are it. Does that mean that homosexual people can keep on being homosexual and still go to heaven? No. You must repent and change you're ways. Lets take a look at the definition of repent from the Strong's Concordance.

Repent 3340 metanoeo (met-an-o-eh'-o); from 3326 and 3539; to think differently or afterwards, i.e. reconsider (morally, feel compunction).

The Bible tells us that being gay is wrong. Homosexuality is a sin in God's eyes in both the Old and New Testaments. The Bible tells us in Romans 1:26 that homosexuality is against nature, it is an unnatural act. That means not one single person ever was or ever will be born homosexual. God is a God of love and fairness and would not call something a sin if there was absolutely no way for the person to stop committing that sin. If a homosexual person would like to go to heaven, they need to repent and change their ways. Ask the Lord to help you. If your honest with Him and really want to change, He will help you. You may fall at times and sin again but repent and keep on trying. You don't want Satan to control your life so never give up. Christians should not support gay rights because as we have read in the Bible, homosexuality is against God's law. Do you really believe that God will bless you if you support gay rights? Why would He when He said homosexuality is a sin? If you are not homosexual and you know a homosexual person and you really want to help them, kindly tell them that God said what they are doing is wrong. That they need to repent and change their ways. God will bless you for that because you are trying to save a soul from death.
